A local man is facing multiple charges after police say he broke into the same downtown Asheville business eight separate times. Authorities confirmed the arrest following a string of burglaries that targeted the establishment over several weeks.
According to police reports, officers responded to repeated alarms at the business location. Investigators linked the incidents through surveillance footage and other evidence, which led them to identify the suspect. The man was taken into custody without incident and now faces eight counts of breaking and entering, along with related theft charges.
The business owner reported that the break-ins resulted in significant damage to doors and locks, as well as the loss of cash and small items. Police did not disclose the exact value of the stolen property but noted that the repeated nature of the crimes was unusual. "It is rare to see someone target the same location this many times," a police spokesperson said. "We are glad we could make an arrest before further damage was done."
The suspect is being held at the Buncombe County Detention Facility. His first court appearance is scheduled for later this week. Police continue to investigate whether the man is connected to any other recent burglaries in the area.
