Utah Leaders Strengthen Ties with Ireland During Trade Mission

Utah Gov. Spencer Cox met with Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin on Wednesday as part of a trade mission organized by World Trade Center Utah. The meeting marked a key moment in the state's push to build stronger economic and cultural connections with Ireland.

The delegation included business executives and government officials who spent several days in the country meeting with Irish companies and policymakers. Discussions centered on trade opportunities, investment, and ways the two sides can work together in sectors such as technology, life sciences, and advanced manufacturing.

Cox said the trip was about opening doors for Utah companies and showing Irish firms what the state has to offer. The visit also highlighted the deep historical ties between Utah and Ireland, including the story of the Irish immigrants who helped shape the state.

World Trade Center Utah organized the mission as part of its broader effort to expand the state's global footprint. Supporters say face to face meetings like these often lead to lasting partnerships that would be difficult to build remotely.

The meeting with Martin drew attention to the growing relationship between Utah and Ireland. Officials on both sides described the talks as productive and said they expect follow up conversations in the months ahead. The delegation also toured local businesses and met with community leaders during the visit.
