Suncoast construction, softer tourism weigh on Boyd’s Las Vegas properties

Suncoast construction, softer tourism weigh on Boyd’s Las Vegas properties

Boyd Gaming posted $1.03 billion in revenue for the second quarter of 2026, matching its performance from the same period last year. While the overall figure held steady, the company's Las Vegas locals segment and its downtown Las Vegas properties both recorded declines.

The dip in those key areas is tied to two ongoing factors in the region. Construction along the Suncoast corridor has disrupted access and traffic patterns, making it harder for local customers to reach the casino. At the same time, a softer tourism season has reduced foot traffic in downtown Las Vegas, where Boyd operates several properties.

Company executives noted that the construction impact is expected to be temporary, but they did not provide a specific timeline for when conditions would improve. The downtown slowdown appears to be part of a broader seasonal trend, with fewer visitors choosing the downtown area compared to the Strip.

Boyd's other regional properties outside of Nevada performed better, helping to offset the Las Vegas weakness. The company continues to focus on cost controls and operational efficiency to protect margins while waiting for the local market to rebound.

Investors reacted cautiously to the news, with shares trading slightly lower in after-market activity. Boyd's leadership remains optimistic that once construction wraps up and tourism picks back up, the Las Vegas properties will regain their momentum.
