A vacant lot along Route 7 in Ridgefield may soon serve a new purpose. A proposal has been submitted to the town's Commission to convert the empty parcel into an outdoor golf driving range. The plan aims to give local golfers a place to practice without traveling far from home.
The proposed facility would feature designated hitting areas and target zones for players of various skill levels. Supporters say the project could bring activity to a stretch of roadway that has seen little development. The lot has sat unused for some time, and turning it into a driving range would put the space to productive use.
Residents have raised questions about noise, lighting, and traffic along the busy corridor. Commission members are expected to review those concerns before making any decision. If approved, the range would operate seasonally, depending on weather conditions.
The proposal remains under review, and no timeline has been set for a final vote. Town officials say public input will be part of the process before any construction begins.
