Minnesota Twins owner Tom Pohlad will personally oversee the organization's business operations for the foreseeable future, committing to the role through at least the 2026 season. This decision follows a period of internal evaluation after Derek Falvey's resignation from the position in January.
Initially, Pohlad actively explored the possibility of hiring an external executive to fill the vacant presidency. However, after a thorough search and consultation process, he concluded that the most effective path forward was for him to assume direct leadership. This move underscores a desire for continuity and a hands-on approach during a pivotal period for the franchise.
In his expanded capacity, Pohlad will manage all business-side functions, including broadcasting, partnerships, ticket sales, and marketing. The baseball operations department, led by President of Baseball Operations Derek Falvey, remains a separate reporting structure. This new alignment is designed to foster close collaboration between the business and baseball sides while providing stable, unified leadership from ownership. Pohlad expressed his deep commitment to the team's success on and off the field, stating this direct involvement ensures the organization's strategic vision is executed seamlessly for staff, players, and fans alike.
