The retail landscape around Thayer Street has shifted noticeably in recent months as four businesses have shut their doors since May. Kung Fu Tea, Tiger Sugar, Aroma Joe's and Bagel Gourmet Ole have all ceased operations in the area, leaving behind empty storefronts that have become increasingly difficult to ignore.

The closures span a mix of national chains and local favorites. Kung Fu Tea and Tiger Sugar both built followings for their bubble tea offerings, while Aroma Joe's served coffee and drive-through style drinks. Bagel Gourmet Ole had been a familiar stop for students and residents looking for a quick breakfast or lunch.

Their departures add to a growing number of vacant spaces along the corridor, which sits near a college campus and has long relied on foot traffic from students, faculty and nearby residents.
