An advertising industry veteran is now steering Phobio, the Atlanta-based technology company that has helped businesses recover $244 million by unlocking the value of their used devices. Missy Taylor has taken over as chief executive officer, bringing a background in brand building and consumer strategy to a company focused on the circular economy.
Phobio specializes in device trade-in and upgrade programs for businesses. Instead of letting old laptops, tablets, and smartphones gather dust or get tossed, the company processes and resells them. That recovered value flows directly back into corporate budgets. The $244 million figure represents the cumulative amount returned to Phobio's clients since the company started.
Taylor steps into the role at a time when businesses are under pressure to stretch every dollar and reduce electronic waste. Her background is not in hardware or recycling, but in advertising and marketing. She previously held leadership roles at agencies and media companies, where she focused on consumer behavior and brand loyalty. That perspective, she says, is key to making device trade-ins a standard part of how companies manage their technology.
Phobio's model works with large enterprises that cycle through thousands of devices each year. The company handles logistics, data wiping, grading, and resale. For the client, it is a way to offset the cost of new equipment. For the environment, it keeps electronics out of landfills.
Taylor's appointment signals a shift toward growth and broader market reach. She plans to expand Phobio's partnerships and make the trade-in process more seamless for businesses of all sizes. The company has already processed millions of devices, and the new CEO aims to build on that momentum by treating device recovery as a strategic financial move, not just an afterthought.
