A Perry Township business is temporarily closed after a bus plowed into its front entrance, causing significant damage and forcing an abrupt halt to operations. The incident occurred earlier this week when the driver of a full-size transit bus lost control and veered off the roadway, crashing directly into the storefront. No customers or employees were reported injured, and the driver escaped with only minor scrapes, according to local emergency responders.
The impact shattered the glass entryway and buckled part of the building's support frame, leaving the structure unsafe for occupancy. Building inspectors were called to the scene and quickly determined that the business could not remain open while repairs were made. The owner, who was not on site at the time, arrived shortly after the crash and expressed shock at the extent of the damage. "We are lucky nobody was standing near the door," they said in a brief statement to local media.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, though preliminary reports suggest a mechanical issue may have played a role. The bus company has not yet commented publicly. Until the building is repaired and cleared by inspectors, the business will remain closed, with no firm reopening date set. Regular customers are being directed to nearby alternatives, and staff have been told to expect a temporary layoff. The community has already started a small fundraiser to help cover lost wages and repair costs.
