The Shelborne, a landmark Art Deco property in Miami Beach, has returned to operation following a restoration project valued at 100 million dollars. The hotel, which first opened in the 1940s, now operates under the Proper hospitality brand and aims to draw visitors looking for a refined stay in the heart of South Beach.
The building's original architectural details have been preserved while the interior has been reworked for contemporary tastes. Guest rooms feature updated furnishings, and public areas have been opened up to allow more natural light. A rooftop pool, a spa, and several dining venues are part of the new offering. The design leans on warm tones and clean lines, a nod to the property's mid-century roots without turning it into a museum piece.
The Shelborne sits on Collins Avenue, a short walk from the beach and the area's nightlife. Its comeback adds another option to a market that has seen a wave of renovations in recent years, as older hotels compete for travelers who want both history and modern comfort. For now, the property is accepting reservations and positioning itself as a stylish base for exploring the surrounding district.
