A group of local high school students are gearing up this summer to participate in New Mexico State University's College of Business inaugural Accounting Career Awareness and Accelerated Career Program (ACAP). This unique summer camp is designed to provide students with insights into the accounting profession and the various career opportunities available in the field.
The program aims to foster interest in accounting and finance among high school students, particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds. Participants will engage in hands-on activities, workshops, and mentorship sessions led by experienced professionals in the accounting industry.
In addition to learning about accounting principles, students will also explore topics such as financial literacy, career planning, and the importance of networking. The camp not only seeks to enhance students' knowledge but also to inspire the next generation of accountants and business leaders.
With the growing demand for skilled professionals in the accounting sector, this initiative represents a significant step towards encouraging young talent to consider careers in this vital field.
