Livestream shopping has become the dominant force behind luxury resale on TikTok Shop in the United States. According to platform data released last week, 94 percent of year-to-date revenue from luxury resale categories on TikTok Shop US is generated through livestream sessions, a figure that underscores how quickly live selling has reshaped the secondhand market on the app.
The numbers suggest that static product listings, while still present, play a minor role compared to real-time broadcasts. Sellers in the luxury resale space have leaned into the format because it allows them to show details up close, answer questions instantly, and create a sense of urgency around limited items. Authentication, condition checks, and styling tips can all happen live, which builds trust with buyers who might otherwise hesitate to purchase high-value pre-owned goods online.
TikTok Shop has invested heavily in live commerce tools, and the luxury resale segment appears to be one of the clearest beneficiaries. Brands and independent sellers alike are scheduling regular streams, often several times a week, to move inventory ranging from handbags to watches to designer apparel. The format also encourages impulse purchases, since viewers can buy with a few taps while the stream is still running.
Whether this livestream-heavy split holds as the year progresses remains to be seen. For now, the data makes one point clear: on TikTok Shop US, luxury resale is a live event first and a catalog second.
