MONTGOMERY - Governor Kay Ivey is urging eligible small businesses and entrepreneurs across Alabama to step up and submit their ideas for a national competition tied to the nation's upcoming 250th birthday. On Thursday, the governor highlighted the U.S. Small Business Administration's "Freedom 250" Patriot Pitch Competition, a nationwide contest designed to celebrate the semiquincentennial.
The competition invites small business owners to pitch their products, services, or business concepts that honor American heritage and innovation. Ivey emphasized that Alabama's entrepreneurial spirit is a key part of the state's identity, and this contest offers a unique platform for local businesses to gain national recognition.
Eligible participants must meet SBA standards for small businesses and submit a pitch that aligns with the patriotic theme of the anniversary. The contest aims to spotlight the role of small enterprises in shaping the country's past, present, and future. Winners will receive prizes and exposure during the official America 250 celebrations.
Ivey's office noted that the deadline for submissions is approaching, and she encouraged businesses from all corners of the state to take advantage of the opportunity. The competition is open to a wide range of industries, from manufacturing to tech startups, as long as the pitch ties back to the spirit of the nation's founding.
For Alabama small businesses looking to make a big impression, this is a chance to pitch for the history books.
