From Campus Community to Career Launchpad: How BBUS Shaped One Ross Graduate's Path

A recent Michigan Ross graduate is sharing how her involvement with the Black Business Undergraduate Society, or BBUS, gave her more than just a network. It gave her a roadmap.

The graduate, who completed her degree at the Stephen M. Ross School of Business, says BBUS was the bridge between classroom theory and real-world opportunity. She describes the organization as a space where students didn't just talk about ambition. They built it together.

Through BBUS, she gained access to mentorship from upperclassmen who had already navigated internships at top firms. She attended workshops on resume building, interview prep, and professional branding. But the biggest impact came from the culture of accountability. Members pushed each other to apply for roles they might have otherwise dismissed as out of reach.

Her internship journey started with a referral from a BBUS alum. That connection led to a summer position where she worked on projects that aligned directly with her career goals. She says the confidence she built through the society's mock interview sessions and networking events made the difference when she sat down for real interviews.

Now, as she moves into her new role, she credits BBUS with showing her that opportunity is not just about what you know. It is about who walks with you. For her, that walk started in a student organization that turned community into career.
