Albuquerque-based Bueno Foods is celebrating 75 years in business this year, a milestone that its CEO says is rooted in family, tradition, and the unique flavors of New Mexico. The company was founded in 1951 by three brothers -- Joe, Ray, and Augustine Baca -- who started with a simple mission to bring authentic New Mexican food to a wider audience. Today, Bueno Foods operates from a campus spanning more than 130,000 square feet and employs 330 people.
In a recent reflection on the company's anniversary, the CEO emphasized that the brand's longevity comes from staying true to its origins while adapting to changing tastes. The company is known for its frozen burritos, tamales, and green chile products, all made with recipes passed down through generations. The CEO noted that the food industry has changed dramatically over the decades, but the core of Bueno Foods has remained the same: a commitment to quality ingredients and the bold, earthy flavors that define New Mexican cuisine.
The anniversary also serves as a reminder of the Baca family's role in shaping the state's food legacy. From a small operation to a regional powerhouse, Bueno Foods has become a staple in kitchens across the Southwest. The CEO expressed gratitude to the employees and customers who have supported the company through the years, and hinted at new products and initiatives planned for the future. As the company looks ahead, the goal is clear: keep the tradition alive for another 75 years.
